Wait? You Thought he was Gone?
Oct 14th, 2009 by Tonia

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

So, this is what happens when I attempt to make time for dating, which happens to also be on my 30 before 30 list. As you recall, my previous crazy boy post discussed my latest dating attempt fiasco. Seems we have a trend going on here. Every few days, the boy makes another attempt to contact me via various forms of communication. And yes, I’m calling him a boy. A 36 year old man would surely not do this. I’m starting to think it’s like one of those movies, what’s the name of it, where the kid is trapped in the grown man’s body? I think Bruce Willis is in it? That movie. That’s what must be happening right now.

Yesterday I came home to find an email from this same boy. Just seeing his name in my inbox made me shudder. Does he not get the hint? I haven’t contacted him in a week and a half. At all. In any way, shape, or form. I also mentioned I was taking a long business trip soon. Knowing this douche he probably thought I was joking.

I’m typically one to go after what I want, but even I know when it’s not reciprocated. Am I alone in this? Is it hard to figure that out? Honestly fellow readers, I am trying to think of logical explanations for this and thoughts of how long this will last before he gives up. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? The only other time this has happened to me I had dated the guy for 6 months beforehand, which gave it a little more merit than having had NO DATES!!

I didn’t read the email. I deleted it without opening it. I didn’t want to know what was inside. I think a fun game might be to imagine what it might have said. Thoughts? Feel free to comment.

The Next Fantastic Style & I Want Your Thoughts
Jan 13th, 2009 by Tonia

Yay! It’s my favorite time of the year. Okay, who am I kidding. This happens at least three times a year. I have an appointment on Saturday morning at Altered Ego Salon to have my nails done as well as my hair!! Now only is this a chance to get something crazy and different, it will be my first time at my stylist here in Tempe. I’ve had a lot of success with my nails and my eyebrows here though, so I am comfortable with my hair. Hopefully I have a stylist that is VERY experienced in color as I requested. I always get nervous with new stylists. So far, my stylist in both Akron and Dearborn have been the best. Virginia was a complete bust but it was such a small town. I can see this being a better experience.

While I don’t want to challenge her too much, I also don’t want to sacrifice my usual out of the ordinary color because of it either. The way my hair was cut last I like the most out of any of the ones I have had, and I have a good chance of keeping something similar too it. We all know though, I am a sucker for color, and it’s always the hardest decision I make.

My natural hair color is red, but it has dulled over the years to a brunette. My latest color is actually blonde, and for the first time. It took two salon trips to dye 95% of my hair blonde, and I was really nervous about it. However, my stylist in Dearborn suggested it and said it would look great on me, and as usual she was right. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments about the blonde. I also got good compliments when I did the pink/red color job prior to that. Part of me says go with one of those.. part of me says to hold up because I have NEVER had the same coloring done twice.

Here are some of the styles of the past.

*phew* There they are. Just a few of the crazy things I’ve done over the past five years. Feel free to speak up, and I actually encourage it. Whether you’ve known me for years, months, or not at all I’d love to hear some suggestions to think about and take in with me this weekend. Hopefully I won’t have as bad of a hairtastrophe as the poor Light Rail Blogger did.

Socialista Goes to Phoenix First Friday
Jan 3rd, 2009 by Tonia

One of the things I’ve been meaning to check out in Phoenix is First Friday. Last night I headed out with Brittany to see what all the buzz was about. While I didn’t stay too late, I will definitely plan better for next time around.

We decided to take well advantage of checking out the Phoenix Museum for free and extremely glad I did. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish the entire building, but fortunately made it to every wing except for two and were able to sit down for a bit and watch the Persian dancer.

Our next stop was supposed to be a trip to The Lost Leaf to see a band and have a beer, but we got sidetracked by the art vendors on Garfield. It was fate that Angry One was there, whom I last saw at the Bizarre Bazaar. I finally ended up buying the Better F*$% Next Time shirt I’ve been dying to get. I also found a gorgeous necklace from Magnetastics. I didn’t get it for the magnetic factor, I pretty much got it because it was gorgeous. Bonus was that after I decided to get it, the man working the booth told me the name of the piece was Jealous Heart. My instant reaction was “yeah it is.” Perfect. My two purchases end up fitting my personality perfectly. I then decided I should not end up to a bar with the Twitter folk as it would’ve certainly pushed me over my spending limit for the night.

Here’s the gorgeous necklace (which just so happened to have matched my shirt perfectly last night):

And here are some crazies that graciously posed for a pic:

We ended up at Rock Bottom Brewery afterwards for some food and a beer and then I headed to bed, saddened I was too tired to play some Rock Band.
